Your Maths Tutor, Verity 

Never did I think I would grow up to be a Maths tutor, and yet here I am working my dream job! Working with children aged between 10 and 16, who have difficulties with Maths. Be it just not understanding the subject, or due to underlying learning differences. 

I've worked with children who are dyslexic or undiagnosed dyscalculia and find these learners often have their own sense of the subject already, and just need someone who can understand their thinking and bring out their own confidence.

I’m dyslexic myself and so understand some of the struggles learners may be experiencing with Mathematics. I have the ability to give learners a different way of understanding a topic that suits their needs.

What qualifications and experience do I have?

I have a Diploma of Higher Education in Mathematical Sciences and am studying for my BSc in 'Mathematics and its Learning' at The Open University part time. I have worked and volunteered in a number of education settings and these experiences have further developed my insight into how children and young people learn Maths.

I have been tutoring since 2017 and in that time have supported over 100 students and completed thousands of hours of tuition with them. I have experience of working with individuals with wide range of SEND both on a 1:1 basis and in a group setting.
